Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake.

Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake.

Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake.
I remember as a kid being taken around to all the relatives during the holidays for a visit.
My mom and dad had lots of siblings in the area to visit.
All my mom’s sisters would measure my dad’s sisters on their meal served and visa-versa.
All hell would break loose the next day if you were not served a tasty dessert at the end of any meal.
It was sure madness. What kind of a person does not offer some dessert, does she not like us. All I remember is make sure that when you invite any relatives for a visit, be sure you have a homemade dessert on hand, or else.
This retro recipe goes back to the days when you would see the latest recipes shown on TV.
Dump Cake hit most the pot luck supper parties back in the late 50’s and is simple to do when lots of company showed up. Here is one recipe that you can make in a pinch.
Chances are you have all the ingredients on hand and with a few minutes of your time will be serving up a dessert that as a busy mom is still able to pull-off an ace dessert.
I have made this recipe a few times at the cottage and with a little added extras like nuts and low sugar fillings which makes a quick good sweet-treat. next day it reminds me of a pop tart only better.
It is quite tasty. You can vary the types of fruit. I occasionally have substituted blueberry pie filling for cherry pie filling and I have used apples and peaches and changed up the topping by adding in oatmeal or granola toasted coconut and raisins.
Give this recipe a whirl when you need a dessert lick-ide split!
Here is the recipe; to do the Dump!

How too;
Dump pineapple into 9 x13 greased pan and spread evenly.
Dump cherry pie filling over pineapple, spreading evenly.
Dump yellow cake mix (dry) over pineapple and cherry, spreading evenly.

Slice the cold butter into small nub pats and space around top of the mixture.
If you like a crisper top use more butter!
Bake in an oven preheated to 350 degrees for 1 hour or until the fruit has bubbled up through the golden brown crust.
